Unlike Indianapolis, the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Metro doesn’t have building footprints that are easy to match to property tax assessments, but MetroGIS does do an excellent job of standardizing and consolidating the parcel-level tax data into a single shapefile. This allows a map of the construction date by parcel for the entire metro. The downside is that parcels with larger land area carry a disproportionate amount of visual weight.
